Lava in miniature—and the color is already showing. 🌋🌿

Alocasia Polly ‘Lava’ Variegated takes the dramatic structure of the classic Alocasia Polly and turns up the color. This rare collector variety is prized for its striking combination of deep green, creamy white, soft blush pink and lava-toned variegation, creating foliage that can look completely different from one leaf to the next.

Even at the tissue-culture stage, these little plants can begin displaying remarkable coloration. As they mature, the signature angular, arrow-shaped Polly foliage becomes more pronounced, while the contrasting variegation can develop into marbling, splashes, sectors and beautifully unpredictable patterns.

Why You’ll Love It

✨ Rare collector Alocasia — Polly Lava remains far less commonly available than standard Alocasia Polly varieties.

🌋 Distinctive Lava coloration — Look for a unique mix of green, cream, white and warm pink-to-blush tones.

🌿 Beautiful mature foliage — As the plant develops, its compact juvenile leaves transition into the bold, sculptural foliage Alocasia Polly is known for.

🎨 Every plant is unique — Variegation patterns naturally differ from plant to plant and can change as new leaves emerge.

💎 A true grower’s plant — Tissue culture gives collectors the opportunity to experience the transformation from a tiny plantlet into a mature statement Alocasia.

What You Will Receive

You will receive one Grower’s Choice Alocasia Polly Lava Variegated tissue-culture plant selected from the available batch.

Because these are living plants, leaf count, size, coloration and degree of variegation will vary. Photos of individual tissue cultures represent the quality and characteristics of the batch but may not represent the exact plant received unless specifically stated otherwise.

Variegation is naturally variable and future coloration cannot be guaranteed.

Tissue Culture Acclimation

This plant arrives in tissue culture and has not yet been acclimated to normal household conditions. Tissue-culture plants require careful acclimation after removal from their sterile environment.

For best results, begin with high humidity, warmth and bright indirect light. Thoroughly remove the culture medium from the roots and establish the plant in a clean, airy, moisture-retentive propagation substrate. Keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged.

Once active growth and healthy roots are established, gradually reduce humidity rather than exposing the plant to normal household conditions all at once.

Established Plant Care

Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid intense direct sun, particularly on highly variegated portions of the leaves.

Water: Keep moderately and consistently moist while allowing adequate airflow around the root system. Avoid prolonged saturation.

Humidity: Alocasias generally appreciate elevated humidity, especially while young.

Temperature: Warm conditions are preferred. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Growing Medium: Once acclimated, transition into a loose, well-draining aroid mix that provides both moisture retention and excellent aeration.

A Note About Highly Variegated Plants

Cream, white and pink portions of variegated foliage contain less chlorophyll than green tissue. Highly variegated plants therefore require good light and attentive care to support healthy growth.

Color intensity may also shift as the plant matures. That’s part of what makes growing Polly Lava so exciting—the next leaf is always a surprise.

Cultivated in nature, created for you.
